The app is a simplistic app that aims to help you set and reach goals through creating new habits and helping you sticking to them. It is an application available on Web, iOS and Android.

Why do you need

To achieve goals you usually have to create a habit (something that you do regularly). Soo what is a habit? According to Wikipedia:

“A habit  is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur unconsciously”

How can we create habits?

To create some form of habit we need to change something. As James Clear writes about habits and he argues that:  

Change is hard. You’ve probably noticed that.

We all want to become better people — stronger and healthier, more creative, more skilled, a better friend and so on.  According to James there are two steps to change your beliefs about yourself:

  1. Decide the type of person you want to be.
  2. Prove it to yourself with small wins. can help you with showing the “small wins” in nice graphs.

As this FastCompany article suggests:  have multiple wins every day – make your habits every day -> Like for example brush your teeth.  :)

How does it work?

1. Select your habit

First you have to select a habit or choose a goal or an aim of something that you want to achieve.. One of the more popular habits (24729 persons as this is written) is the habit of 30-60 minutes reading, which you can simply just join, or you can create your own habits. 

2. Check in your habit

Second: every time you do a habit – you simply open the app, select your habit and click one time and the habit turn green and you are now done for today. You can tweak your habits so that you do not have to do it every day, for instance you can select a habit for them in that case 5 days of the week.

3. See your progress over time with graphs: tracks and display graphs to show users how many times the habit was performed, over the past weeks / months. It even HIGHFIVE you after you have done a habit 21 times -> the number 21 is what is considered to be a standard for your neurological patterns to shift and change to create a new pattern.

However according to James Clear –  How Long Does it Actually Take to Form a New Habit? (Backed by Science)  (one of my new favourit blogs) it most likely takes a longer time – 2 months (or 66 days to be exact) on average before a behavior becomes “automatic”.
Even though that article (and many more from James) are awesome and fascinating, lets stay on track with app. helps you create habits with positive reinforcement from the app with graphs and colors.  It can send you reminders in the app – daily/weekly and it can send you weekly reports on your progress.
Personally I find great satisfaction in after I done something (like 25 min of writing) and then clicking the button after I am done. IT is Awesome.  And ofcourse – it is a great feeling to get the HIGHFIVE! Love that

4. Community powered. 

Not only do you get positive re-inforcement by showing you graphs and giving your highfive. is (as CrossFit also uses to its advantage) community powered!  The community provides encouragement (peer pressure). You can give other “ ers” “props” which is almost like “likes” for their check ins. These props can fuel motivation.

5. Ask questions 

You can also ask questions how other people are solving problems or how they motivate themselves.

How to use it? 

As Techcrunch states you click a “Big old button” if you achieve your goal. All information is public by default (you can of course set your goal to be private). As the app tracks your progress, it populates graphs with your data and showing you how consistent you are, fueling your motivation even more. Here is s own

Will this be yet another app that you will try for a week and not use?
That is always a possibility.. It depends on you, what kind of person are you? How motivated are you to improve your life and circumstances? You have to ask yourself:
Do I want to improve or not?
 – it is that simple – the app is not magic and if you are not motivated, this app will not help , it might work in the opposite direction that you get de-motivated when you see the “cold hard numbers” of how consistent you really are. Try to overcome those fears and once you have done that, consider your coach and partner in success. Perhaps you do not need any help or you do not want to track your progress – then this app is simply not for you.
For me this is a great way to show myself consistency.
It helps me with motivation, it helps me remind myself of things that I should do. But I am very conscious with telling myself that I do NOT HAVE TO DO IT. Be careful here – DO NOT force goals on yourself that is not your own. Always start with the WHY? Why do you need this? Why do you want it?  And start with one small goal and if you like the app, just keep doing your habit until you get the magic high five! Then it is perhaps time to add another goal and the wheels are now in motion.

Example of how I use

Since writing this post about posture I realized that I need to improve my suppleness and with I created a goal for “20 min of mobility” every day, this has slowly improved not only my CrossFit skills, but also my overall well being in all areas.

If you lack in motivation or simply just need more challenges, the community are already helping you out. There are several “programs” and challenges that you can pursue. For instance the Diet challenge. Simply select your diet (paleo, 5-2, vegan and so on) and half of the work is done. :)

Tony and his team are almost known for writing the LONGEST release notes, see image below. You can tell that Tony and his team really believes in this app and they surely take an enormous time writing release notes. I know that this is much appreciated by the community including myself, I truly enjoy the release notes and just reading them before updating makes me feel “SPECIAL” and that I am a part of the “inside circle” of as you do get an insight of the thoughts and labour behind every release, I think a lot of other apps could learn to spice things up a bit in release notes instead of settling with “bug fixes and performance improvements”
