New Year New Content
0Hi Everyone. Happy New year!

We have exciting times ahead of us here at Flawd. Since we haven’t really added content in a while we realized that this is due to that we don’t have any clear specific goals with this site and our blogging. We are also missing to define our target audience – which is you! ![]()
Therefore we think it is time that you decide what we should write and discuss on this site!
What would you like to know more about? Since I (PL) will be doing most of the blogging I want to limit the topics ot topics that I am interested in:
- Security: i.e. IT-Security, Information Security and Security Management.
- Management in all its forms: Processes, Metrics, Project Management
- Personal Development: Kaizen, Time-Management, Physical Training – basically all kinds of improvement that you can do to become a better person.
This is my initial thoughts of what I want to write about. Currently the plan is to find interesting topics rest of January and then doing a weekly post each week.
My first thought is writing a guide on: how to create your personal website – and I will start with my own which really needs work: peterlarsson.org
Feel free to give us feedback. My “protocols” for being reached is protocol.by/peterlarsson

Secunia half year report
0
The Danish IT-security company: Secunia recently released a half year report over 2010 which is available for download at: http://secunia.com/gfx/pdf/Secunia_Half_Year_Report_2010.pdf
It is a 19 pages PDF and introduces the reader to the term CVE which means Core Vulnerabilites and Exposures and is supposedly a standard to uniquely identify
Secunia as I have mentioned earlier also provides with a great software called PSI – Personal Software Inspector which is a free tool that finds vulnerabilities in your installed software and gives you suggestions on how to tackle them, mainly through patches.

For companies they also provide with another software calles CSI – Corporate Software Inspector

Permanently delete your social media accounts
0

smashingmagazine.com recently wrote a very interesting article where they rate and describe how to permanently delete your social media accounts for instance: facebook, youtube, twitter, linkedin and so on.
According to the article, the hardest ones is wikipedia and wordpress which they claim is impossible.
In the article they have created a scale where 5 is the hardest difficulty and 1 beeing the easiest.
5
No surprise: Facebook
4
Myspace
3
Linkedin, google, ebay, amazon and youtube
2
twitter, flickr, windows live
1
Paypal and stumbleupon.
So why do some sites make it so complicated? The answer is user retention. They don’t want you to delete your account.

How secure is my password?
0Test your password at http://howsecureismypassword.net/
It will give you a hint as how strong your password really are. Recommendation: DO NOT USE YOUR REAL PASSWORD – use a similar one to show yourself its strength.
For instance if you write: test
It will tell you that it is one of top 500 popular passwords and will be cracked almost instantly.
If you haven’t already I recommend you to invest some time in using a password manager, like for instance KeePass.
